28 Nov CONSELF Cloud Simulation v2.8 Released
A new version of CONSELF Cloud Simulation has just been released. Version 2.8 contains many new features in different sections of the platform: from a completely revised boundaries selection menu that improves workflow intuitiveness, to the unification of meshing procedure which becomes now quicker, cheaper and easier. You will be also able to run multiple meshing/simulation steps at the same time for a given case. Boundary layer option has been added to the Hexahedral meshing and a new tool to close holes in STL and OBJ files in now available. Find out more below.
New boundaries menu and multiple simultaneous steps run for a given case
In the image on the right you can see a preview of the new boundaries menu you will find in 2.8 version. Even if it is a purely graphical upgrade, it has an important impact on the quality workflow and the user experience. With respect to previous releases, where a common select menu was used to select boundaries, you will now have the entire list available on your screen, and you can navigate through them very easily. They are encountered during meshing phase (both surface refinement and boundary layer sections) and in the simulation step where you have to prescribe your boundary conditions.
Another major upgrade is the possibility to run multiple meshing and/or simulation steps at the same for the very same case. In previous versions, when a step was running, the corresponding case couldn’t be opened. With this new release you can open the case and prepare as many meshes or simulations as you need, running all in parallel you will be able to speedup you workflow as never before.

Unique mesh step, boundary layer option for hexahedral mesh and much more
The picture on the left shows a completely new meshing approach implemented in this new release. The double steps of Surface Mesh and Volume Mesh have been fused together to create a single meshing procedure. The result is a quicker, cheaper and easier grid generation functionality. As additional benefits, the algorithms have become more robust and the boundary layer option is now available also for the hexahedral meshing.
There are at least two other relevant developments:
- In FEM simulations singularities are now detected and properly handled to limit their effect on final results
- A brand-new tool as been added, it closes all holes found in STL and OBJ files
